Remember those Russian doll name brooches that Lady Luck Rules OK were selling? To celebrate Halloween (the best event of the year, in terms of accessories at least), the girls have given the dolls a gothic makeover. Buy yours here for a bargainous £13.

Oh, and here's a date for your diary. This Saturday the girls at Superette are holding a street sale. Vintage clothing, jewellery, fabric, bric-a-brac, shop fixtures, mannequins... EVERYTHING. And most of it under £10! WHAT? They tell me there'll be tea and cakes too, so the only excuse not to go is if, like me, you've got a hot date with your mum this Saturday. Screw you mum!

Superette Saturday Street Sale, Saturday 11th October 11-5pm
Superette, 66a Sclater Street, London E1 6HR

The last post about trainers for today

I nearly forgot about this one. This one goes out to you, Sofie -- I hope you don't mind the overshare (and reword).

Can we discuss trainers? I have a really difficult time with them. I really like colourful Nikes or Reeboks on other people, but I can't wear them. I'm looking for shoes that aren't boots and not open flats. Something comfortable but not dressy (like brogues or black shoes in general). Also I find plimsolls don't keep my foot supported enough, the soles are too thin.

Non ugly, comfy shoes, in a neutral colour?

Be my guest, be my guest, put my service to the test. Keds make my stomach turn, and you know that Converse exist because everyone has at least 2 pairs, so my answer is this; Vans. Comfiest shoes ever, last for years, look good. WIN, DING DING DING.

I love that these are yellow. This is the Vans Authentic.

This is the Vans Authentic in classic white. I think these are what you require.

This is the Vans Authentic Lo Down. I hate shoes with fake lace holes, but I realise not everyone thinks the same as me so here they are.

Remember Nikki and the Corvettes? Nah, most people don't. But they should! If you liked the Donnas when they weren't shit (they have never been shit and never will be, I was just tryng to sound cool), you should totes check out them out, as they are essentially their direct predecessors. But better. And with much better hair.

You should pretty much check them out for yourself on Myspace because reading about bands is boring, but here are some pictures to spur you on.

Hot diggity dog, don't they look fierce? They sound it too, listen;

Jon didn't like the Jeremy Scott x Adidas collabo, but WHAT THE HELL. Just because he's part of my Friday night drinking tag team, doesn't mean we need to agree on sportswear. I love it! All of it!

Leopard print and Adidas? My 18 year old self can't say no. And coat tails? And paillettes? And shoes with AN ENORMOUS TREFOIL? Call me simple, but I can't fault it. Images with love and kisses to The Clones.

Cartman was on to something when he described hippies in the 'Die, Hippie, Die' episode of South park, but it's not all patchouli oil and mung beans. Tie dye is one hippy thing that is awesome, as these Nikes prove.

I guess they are kinda clown-like, and probably quite ugly, but I like an ugly shoe and the tie dye laces remind me of Zap ice lollies (on the right, ignore the OLD NAME). They're available from my new favourite shop again, here.
