If anyone knows how to 'do' Couture week, it's Monsieur le Galliano. I mean really. This is what it's all about. Stupid hats, massive dresses, and make-up so heavy the models can't keep their eyes open.Posted by Administrator
Drawing inspiration from 60s Vogue editor, Diane Vreeland, the Symbolist painters and Gustav Klimt, by way of John Sargent's Madame X, this was a suitably OTT, suitably Galliano collection. Eye-watering colour, jewels and gems, and Stephen Jones-tastic lampshade hats -- the papers may be full of recession fears and Black Monday debts, but in a glittery corner of Paris OTT glamour still ruled OK.

Some of you may know that I have something of a passion for UK TV presenter, journalist, and all round cantankerous old man, Jeremy Paxman.Posted by Administrator
Last week I was delighted when he showed up at our exhibition -- but we were all a little puzzled about why he would be interested in a fashion show. Well, maybe there was something in it -- it appears that the Paxatron is planning a move into fashion.
Read all about it!
Can we expect a Paxman range of pants? Can we expect a Paxman underwear shot? Watch this space...

And they're off! Posted by Administrator
It's that time of year again -- the week where everyone gets to wear stupid clothes, talk about concepts, and breathe in the sweet scene of thousands and thousands of £££ wafting down the runways. I'm talking, of course, about the Couture shows, which kicked off bright and early this morning in Paris.
First up was Anne Valerie Hash. The young French designer is now into her fifth season at the couture shows, and whilst she may not be a 'big' name alongside the other globally famous designers, for a certain market of women she is one of the highlights of the season. Having trained at the internationally renowned Chambre Syndicale (couture school!), Hash has previously worked with Dior, Chanel, and Lagerfeld. Her own designs take something from these jobs (intricate detailing, feminine cuts), but are also a move away from the uber-brands. Her designs have a more Belgian sensibility than the French -- deconstructed looks, muted colours, and a blurring of the edges between stereotypical masculinity and femininity.

Today is supposed to be the most depressing day of the year -- it's a scientific fact. Christmas well and truly over, credit card bills piling up, crappy weather. Posted by Administrator
Still, it's not all bad -- the couture shows start today!
Here's a suitably blue outfit to celebrate;

See under the jump for details of where to buy, as well as a little something extra...

Betsey Johnson's New York apartment is (was? I imagine it's been snapped up) for sale, which means we get a sneak peak at the inside. It's very pink, but pretty much perfect.Posted by Administrator

Check under the jump for more of Betseyville!
