Blue Monday

Today is supposed to be the most depressing day of the year -- it's a scientific fact. Christmas well and truly over, credit card bills piling up, crappy weather.

Still, it's not all bad -- the couture shows start today!

Here's a suitably blue outfit to celebrate;

See under the jump for details of where to buy, as well as a little something extra...

Betsey Johnson's New York apartment is (was? I imagine it's been snapped up) for sale, which means we get a sneak peak at the inside. It's very pink, but pretty much perfect.

Check under the jump for more of Betseyville!

Another Day, Another Round of Men's Shows

My coverage of the men's shows is somewhat lacklustre, and I apologise again for that. It's hard to muster enthusiasm for suits! Still, at least someone knows what they're doing.

Moschino : Everyone's A Winner, Baby!

I'm a huge, huge, Moschino fan. Sexy, funny, rock 'n' roll, tacky, hideous... all words connected with the Italian mega label. It's flash and it's brash, but it's fucking brilliant. In a week of repetitive menswear shows, it's always nice to see someone do something interesting, no matter how silly it might be. The show had a Vegas theme, with lucky clover motifs, Rat Pack-esque suits and specs, and spangly shoes galore. There was more than a passing reference to the 80s -- the label was started in '83, and seems to have stayed there sartorially ever since -- with slicked back Patrick Bateman hair, those omnipresent shades and even a questionable petrol coloured leather bomber jacket. But what about the less flash Harrys out there? Quite why they'd be shopping at Moschino I don't know, but for the tamer end of the audience there were exquisitely cut slim suits, stripey suits, and remarkably tasteful pea coats. As for the atypical Moschino fan? Pink leather gloves, black and red stripey Hot Topic-tastic trousers, and a purple Puffa vest... how about the sequin covered biker jacket, trousers and blazer? Yes please! Roll on the women's shows...

For much better coverage of the men's shows, check out my friends at Brandish!

See by Chloe : Spring Shopping

How do I love Chloe? Let me count the motherfucking ways. Everything is perfect. Today I was browsing for a colourful dirndl style skirt for Spring/Summer. I have a hideous/wonderful floral shirt from the 50s, that is crying out for a colourful new friend. I used to wear it with this sick orange pencil skirt, but I appear to have lost that. Chloe (well, See by Chloe this time) is, as ever, the answer. Lovely lovely colours and shapes for summer.

All I need now is some matching shoes, and I'm set. Hmmm....

Accessorising Like a Pro!

Everyone is probably familiar with the work Takashi Murakami by now. Even if the name doesn't sound familiar, you'll no doubt have seen his cutesy artwork somewhere -- he does seem to get around. His Louis Vuitton range was a global success, and the counterfeiters seem to have something of a fondness for his designs. Every bus I get on in South London seems to contain at least one lady with a fake TM for LV bag -- you know the ones;

Anyway, I digress -- let's not tarnish the work of the good man himself with the work of fakers. His designs are adorable, and I was delighted today to see that the blog of my favourite magazine featured some bitching Murakami accessorising...

Spectacular! Nicely done, Jaq, nicely done.
