Monday is finally over, and what better way to celebrate then reminiscing about the 1990s? Today I've been listening to a lot of Nada Surf (who are on tour very soon!), and thinking about how brilliant 90s music was. No really. I know what you're thinking, but watch this, then get back to me.Posted by Administrator
Nada Surf -- Popular. Like Weezer, but not as good. Still, great song. Roll on Tuesday!

I don't wear jeans very often, but I've always been a firm believer in the 'denim doesn't need washing' rule. People always get a bit distressed about this, and believe me, I'm generally quite a clean person, but when it comes to jeans, it's just a FACT that they don't need washing very often. Indeed, it's a not-so-well known fact that they get better the more you wear them, and the less you wash them.Posted by Administrator
NO REALLY. Nudie says.
Nudie, for the uninitiated, is a Swedish denim brand that has achieved phenomenal success over the past couple of years. And guess what? They confirm that not washing is the way forward. As their website says;
Dry, dark unwashed denim, is the strongest and most durable alternative, and will also give the most personal result. Use your dry jeans as much as possible before the first wash. Six months is a good start. A pair of jeans is like a second skin where the indigo and denim are living materials. Jeans is all about passion and deep relationship – the more you wear and treat your jeans, the more beautiful they get. Your everyday life gives the denim its unique character, formed by you into a second skin – personal and naked...The longer you can keep them unwashed, the more beautiful they will get.
So now you know.

Everyone's favourite Scottish designer (wait, are there others?), Christopher Kane held a Burns Night party on Friday, and whilst I wasn't invited (I think my invitation got lost in the post), I've been reading up on it with interest today. Posted by Administrator
Mini haggis canapés sound like something I could quite happily go without, whilst whiskey cocktails are basically blasphemy to a fine malt aficionado such as me (no, really). Still, it's not all bad news. Mr Kane was accompanied, as ever, by his lovely sister/manager/muse, Tammy, who just so happened to be modelling an outfit from Christopher's eagerly awaited A/W collection.

From the man who has already given us neon body-con zip dresses and a collection inspired by Axl Rose and Crocodile Dundee, this dress is seemingly quite innocent. However don't panic, Kane-fans, he assures us that the rest of the collection will be suitably ostentatious. In fact, he told Style.com that his inspiration this time round was, 'Big Bird - but without the feathers.'
Right you are, then, Chris.

Chloe Sevigny seems to be one of those Marmite subjects -- you either love her and think her 'unique' fashion sense is exactly that, or you hate her and all the jumble sale crap she wears, and consider 'unique' a euphemism for 'shit'. Posted by Administrator
I have to admit to being a fan of the Chloester, and even though I don't always agree with her choices of clothing, for the most part I think she looks pretty fabulouso. That being said, I was pretty excited to hear that she had been appointed style director at Elle magazine (UK). I’m not entirely sure what the role will actually entail, although apparently she has her own desk and chair in the office, so maybe she will actually be earning a living.

Needless to say, she is gracing the cover of the new issue, and I love it – particularly the shoes. I got on the case investigating them, and was excited/surprised/intrigued to discover that the designer, Natacha Marro, is in fact a local girl, located just up the road in North London. She leans towards the fetish world of design – perhaps unsurprising, considering that she started life out at fetish-store-extraordinaire, House of Harlot. According to her biography, she has designed for everyone from David Bowie to Gwen Stefani – and even, intriguingly, ‘Star Wars’…?

Like most good fetish wear, the shoes don’t come cheap, with prices starting at around £200. She also offers a bespoke service, where you can work together to create the shoes of your dreams. They’re a little on the pricey side, but it’s not a million miles from the price bracket of most designer shoes, and wouldn’t you rather own a pair of these bad boys?
