The words being bandied around Peter Som’s collection made my little meercat style ears prick up. Diane Arbus? Grey Gardens? Vintage inspired mismatch layering? Crikey, it’s like fashion week bingo. Still, no matter how tired the references, it’s a winning formula.Posted by Administrator

Oscar de la Renta is known for OTT glamour, providing divine evening wear for the ladies what lunch over the pond. The likes of us wouldn’t even get a foot in the door of his well-heeled boutiques, but we’re not bitter, we’re happy to just ogle. Especially not when he puts Regina Spektor on the stage at the piano. Squee!Posted by Administrator
The collection was, unsurprisingly luxurious (as style.com point out – ‘recession? What recession?’), with fur, velvet, silk and gold (yes, real gold leaf) embroidery. The silhouettes were Oscar de la Renta classics – billowy high waisted flannel trousers, full skirts, nipped in waists, and piles of fur at the neck.

Halston was one of the big names to watch at this season’s shows – the legendary 70s label is back, and boy are a lot of people excited. With new designer Harvey Weinstein at the helm, flanked by super-stylist Rachel Zoe and Jimmy Choo legend Tamara Mellon, this is one relaunch that really should work. Oh, and did I mention that the director is Marco Zanini – ex right-hand man to Donatella Versace. Phew, with names like that, Halston surely must be doing something right.Posted by Administrator

Chris Benz’s A/W collection took inspiration from, in his own words, ‘a funny old French woman pulling wrinkled clothes from 50 years ago out of a suitcase.’ For once, this is a designer ‘concept’ I can relate to. Looking through my own mother’s trunk of clothes generates much the same feeling. Although I should note, for everyone’s sake, my mother’s clothes aren’t from 50 years ago (quite!).
This vintage-inspired take on sportswear, in a gorgeous array of colours, was a real treat in a week that personally, I’ve found mostly uninspiring.

Oh how boringly predictable. The Betsey Johnson show is already my absolute favourite show of New York. What a surprise! Who would have guessed? Sigh. Oh Betsey, why do you do this to me? No one really respects you in ‘The Industry’, you basically do the same thing every season, and yet still, (or perhaps its because of that), I still love you more than any other show, every time.
Keep reading for more fangirl drivel.
