Monique Lhuillier, Marchesa and Temperley all showed in the past day and a half, and as they're kinda rocking the same style – glam, award ceremony-chic, women over 5’1” only – I figured they could all go together. This isn’t dismissive though – there’s some truly jaw-dropping frocks ahead.Posted by Administrator

Karen Walker is one of my favourite designers, so when I heard this show was inspired by Edwardian nightgowns I’m not afraid to admit that panic set in. My fears were appeased somewhat when the first model stepped out on the runway – as far as I recall (and bear in mind history isn’t my strong point, acid wash jeans weren’t a staple of the Edwardian woman’s wardrobe.

Benjamin Cho’s show was a real mixed bag. Having spent the past few months crafting away in his bedroom, he emerged with a confusing mis-mash of the good, the bad, and the knitted. When he got his craft on (giant origami flowers, jigsaw panels, a life-size knitted stag head…), all was well with the world. When he gave up the crafting and focused on wearable black pieces, I lost interest. Don’t worry about selling shit, Cho! Concentrate on the fun times and everyone’s a winner.

Why Jovovich-Hawk is received to great acclaim and other ‘celebrity’ labels aren’t is a mystery to me. Surely a model and an actress have the same amount of credibility for launching a range as the Olsen twins? Never mind though, their A/W collection was passable enough. Inspired by rock ‘n’ roll muses, the collection was a concentrated range of pretty dresses and grungey separates. Oh, and a very Slade-tastic checked suit. Nothing to go crazy over, but all very nice. I’m more excited to see their range for Target, coming to stores next month.

DKNY sold their collection on the promise of ‘eclectic glamour’. Mysterious… but are we talking Isabella Blow eclectic glamour, or, ooh, I don’t know, some dullard Olsen twin? I know whose clothes I’d rather see, and I also know whose clothes DKNY are more likely to flog… ho hum.
