The Italian Job

The tents are barely down at London Fashion Week, and already we’re well into the Milan shows. One of the staples of the Milan shows is Alberta Ferretti, whose classic, feminine pieces are always well received. The subtle, sensuous dresses which made her name are as relevant today as they ever were, and whilst it’s a total move away from the raucous drama of London style, it sums up Italian style pretty nicely. This season the peacock inspired jewel tones were absolutely incredible, and made a nice change from all the monochrome evening wear we’ve been seeing so much of.

Those of you that went through a goth period in your youth, look away now. Yes, it seems that the lipstick colour of choice for angst ridden 14 year olds with a penchant for Sisters of Mercy is making a catwalk comeback. Black is back, seen on all sorts of runways this season – most notably Luella, Nathan Jenden and Giles, as featured in this rather snazzy collage I whipped up.

The CSM Show

I’m back! London Fashion Week was the usual whirlwind of binge drinking, sleeplessness and painful feet. It’s all over now, but there’s no rest for the wicked, as the Milan shows are now underway. Before I dive into that though, I wanted to make a quick post about the Central St Martins show on Friday. Don't forget to check Catwalk Queen for all the news on London Fashion Week. I literally don't have time to copy and paste it, I'm sorry!

(I don't have time for Bluegrass Tuesday either, I'll make it up to you...)

I was always brought up with the mantra, 'if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all'.

With that in mind, weren't Sonic Youth AMAZING at Marc Jacobs? It's kind of a stupid question, as I think it's a fact that Sonic Youth are always awesome. Still, let's take a moment to appreciate the wonder of Kim, Thurston and Co.

There were elements of Marc I loved, and I'm sure when I look at it again when I'm not tired/stressed/hungry I'll love it more. But for the time being, let's focus on the wonder of the Sonics.
