Paris Fashion Week: Alexander McQueen

Alexander 'Lee' McQueen's A/W show was inspired by Queen Victoria, Empirical India, and all sorts of fantasy figures that may well have been around at the time. Cue lots of crinolines, incredible dresses, bejewelled headpieces, and lots and lots of showstopping numbers. The ballerina-length (ie, ankle) skirts and dresses we have seen this season seemed to work better here than anywhere else I've seen them, although when even models wear them and get cankles, it's perhaps a warning to the rest of us.

Loving The LV

These tights win the Best Hosiery of Fashion Week award by a MILE. I want them, I want them bad.

Keep reading for the rest of the LV show -- warning, it's not a patch on the tights.

Bluegrass Tuesdays

So as the more observant of you may have noticed, last week there was a distinct lack of Bluegrass. I'm sorry!

Today's offering is less comedy than previous entries, and is actually just a really cool band. A lot of people are probably aware that after the Ramones, Dee Dee Ramone embarked on an appallingly bad rap career. What you may be less familiar with is Tommy Ramone's bluegrass band, Uncle Monk.

It's time to change that...

Let me know what you think!

Paris Fashion Week: Lanvin

Lanvin is a label that seems to be capable of doing the impossible. It's creative, intelligent, and cutting edge enough to appealing to fashionistas and editors, but it's sexy and covetable enough to get the thumbs up from footballer's wives and red carpet attendees too. Whether or not this is a good thing, you tell me. This season was a black and grey extravaganza, with pleating and draping galore. It seems designers had two choices this season -- black/grey or multicolour mania. I know which I prefer, but that being said I'm loving the Lanvin. There you go, proof that Alber can do no wrong.

Paris Fashion Week: Miu Miu and Chloe

Miu Miu and Chloe are two of the labels that seem to get ripped off most on the High Street. Both brands favour the girlier girl, but with a bit of edge. This season, however, Miu Miu took a turn to the, uhm, jockey side. Models in padded jodhpurs and cycling shorts took to the catwalk in a series of racing greens and reds. Each model had their initials embroidered onto their looks, which was a sweet touch, but the business mind in me can't help but wonder what will happen with that when the looks get sent out to magazines for stories? The lace look that we saw at Prada was present here too, but this time in thick rubbery holes, rather than the intricate fabric at the Prada show. It will be interesting to see what the High Street 'designers' make of this lot -- jockeys, rubberised mousemat material, and padded thighs are hardly synonymous with high street style, after all. No doubt it will filter through somehow -- last summer Miucci managed to make neoprene the fabric of the season, so I wouldn't put anything past her.

Keep reading for Chloe!
