Halloween is my number one event of the year, natch. I'm a pseudo-goth, I like fancy dress more than is socially acceptable and I'm predictable. How could I not love it? T-shirt masters YMC have made a range of bitching shirts for the season, all featuring 50s Halloween prints. DOY, how could I not love it? Buy them here, wear all year, win win.

This Topshop dress first appeared on their site about 3 months ago. I was instantly taken with it, and debated over buying it for weeks. Everything about it is good, but 1) I'm not too down with the high street and 2) at £45, I was convinced I would be able to find a better vintage alternative. Vintage is what I do. I grew up rummaging in jumble sales, most of what I own is secondhand, it's not hard. So, the search was on.
I FAILED. Epically. Ebay, Etsy, charity shops, vintage boutiques, car boot sales. Not happening. Anywhere. I guess because ~goth~ is fashionable, and people are more astute at vintage hunting these days. I kept seeing lacy 80s numbers on Ebay and then sitting and watching as the price escalated into the upper echelons of acceptability. I had to accept defeat so I made up my mind to bow to pressure and buy the Topshop version. Only, of course, it had disappeared from the site, stores, planet, never to be seen again. Sigh.
Yesterday it reappeared. Sweaty-palmed, I pegged it down to Oxford Circus after work and tried it on. Yeah, I should mention I hadn't actually even tried it on at this point, which was quite LOLarific considering how long I'd been dreaming of it. Anyway, thankfully it fit like a dream, although it's possibly a little short for my sausage legs. I think there's probably room for an underskirt under it too, which is good news. I am delighted with it, and with my fake student card (sorry Topshop), it came in at just about £40, which I grudgingly accepted. I have already dreamt up numerous 'looks' for the so-called party season involving my new purchasea, and you'll be pleased to note that they all consist of patent leather and studs, although in nowhere near as cool a way as you might imagine. I basically owned this dress when I was 13 and a goth, so I'm reverting back to that, and it's not going to be pretty. I might even put my hair back into the shitty fake dreadlocks I used to sport. Or not, as the case may be.
Topshop bulimia. I feel really let down with myself for supporting the MAN, but I guess these are the sacrifices one must make for looking like a goth. At least it's machine washable as well, which is more than can be said for vintage lace and is a necessity when you're as incapable as I am at eating/drinking.

Sorry it's been so quiet on the updating front. There's been a death, a missing kitten, a trip back to the frozen wastelands of the North and, perhaps most worryingly of all, some kind of strange stroke-like effect in both my arms. They appear to have turned to jelly or something, but I seem to be over that now. I do seem to have replaced the spaz arms with a gammy knee, but onwards and upwards.
I WANT THIS TOM BINNS BRACELET. It's only £595 so what are you waiting for?

I love Brit-Brit, so don't get me wrong, but yeah for sure, The Old Britney Was Hotter. It is grammatically correct I guess, but the wording kinda looks weird, no? Still, it's an awesome design and I'll buy it. I plan to wear it with my new Britney ~Hidden Fantasy~ fragrance, which is currently beating Holloaks For Her as my favourite perfume.
