I'm not a great one for posting Polyvore sets. They're fun and all, but other people do them better and I'm never really convinced that you care about looking at them. Still, I've had a whole day of doing nothing today and when boredom hit, Polyvore seemed like a good (and more importantly, free and not involving booze) way of passing the time.
So, here's my Christmas ~set~. It's a combination of things that I've asked Santa for (new APC dress, Sonia knitwear), things I'm buying for myself (M by MJ shoes, even more brown tights), things I'm hoping to pick up over the next week back up North (vintage costume jewels, non-Harrods orange gloves), things I already own (uh, Darlene Love album) and things that I have no hope in Hell of receiving, but can but dream of (pug and Luella batman mask).
Click for all the details (and all-important tunes). Ho ho ho, etc.

I have to admit to being unfamiliar with Oz label TV until today. Why do so many great Australian labels sneak under the radar? Their witty A/W 09 collection isn't all leopard print (at all!) but, predictably, the leopard bits are my favourite. Particularly the scraf with a head. The rest of the collection is fairly Balmain-y, with shredded bleach denim and more than a hint of 90s styling. The entire range reminds me of Jane of Sea of Shoes fame, which is perhaps a little creepy but there you go.

Third Drawer Down is an Australian art collective (from what I can gather). They have a store, an agency and... well, when they launch their promised new website in January, I'll be able to tell you more. For now, here are some cute badges from their store. Cute! They'd be a great gift for any Guardian-reading middle-class kids (hey, that's me!) too, although I'm pretty sure you'll have missed the shipping deadline from Oz...

PS They also stock stuff from the Fuck Death Foundation, which you should totally check out if you haven't already. Visit the original site here.

My data sources tell me that quite some number of you have downloaded my Christmas megamix. I hope you enjoyed it and that it got you feeling festive -- I think I'm just about getting into the spirit of things. Posted by Administrator
Christmas is my all time favourite time of the year, for the music if nothing else. No other religious holiday promotes such great tunes, and just the opening bars of All I Want For Christmas are enough to get even the most hardened Scrooge feeling festive. Here are my best ever three Christmas compilation albums -- there's still just about time to pick them up on Amazon.

A Santa Cause - It's a Punk Rock Christmas
1. The AKAs - Christmas In Hollis
2. Something Corporate - Forget December
3. The Matches - December Is For Cynics
4. Blink 182 - I Won't Be Home For Christmas
5. Far (with Chino Moreno) - Feed The World (Do They Know It's Christmas?)
6. Fall Out Boy - Yule Shoot Your Eye Out
7. MXPX - Christmas Night Of The Zombies
8. From First To Last - X12 Days of XXXMASX
9. Matchbook Romance - I'll Be Home For Christmas
10. New Found Glory - Ex-Miss
11. Acceptance - So This Is Christmas
12. Gatsby's American Dream - Christmas Time Is Here
13. Jason Gleason - Sleigh Bells and Wine
14. In Memory - The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year
15. Mighty Mighty Bosstones - This Time Of Year
16. Stand Still - I Saw Daddy Kissing Santa Claus
17. The Beautiful Mistake - A Cradle In Bethlehem
18. Punchline - Icicles
19. Saosin - Mookie's Last Christmas
20. The Red West - It Came Upon A Midnight Clear
This features my favourite ever Christmas cover -- Far with Chino Moreno doing Band Aid. It's stupidly hard to find online, but good old Hype Machine have it here if you fancy a listen. Buy the album here!

We Wish You a Metal Xmas...and a Headbanging New Year
1. We Wish You a Merry Xmas - Bob Kulick, Bruce Kulick, Ray Luzier, Jeff Scott Soto, Chris Wyse
2. Run Rudolph Run - Billy Gibbons, Dave Grohl, Lemmy
3. Santa Claws Is Coming to Town - Vinny Appice, Alice Cooper, John 5, Billy Sheehan
4. God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen - Ronnie James Dio, Tony Iommi, Rudy Sarzo, Simon Wright
5. Silver Bells - Carlos Cavazo, James LoMenzo, Ray Luzier, Geoff Tate
6. Little Drummer Boy - George Lynch, Simon Phillips, Doug Pinnick, Billy Sheehan
7. Santa Claus Is Back in Town - Vinny Appice, Juan Garcia, Marco Mendoza, Steve Morse, Tim "Ripper" Owens
8. Silent Night - Chuck Billy, Jonathan Donais, Scott Ian, John Tempesta, Chris Wyse
9. Deck the Halls - Tony Franklin, Craig Goldy, Oni Logan, John Tempesta
10. Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer - Gregg Bissonette, Tracii Guns, Bob Kulick, Stephen Pearcy, Billy Sheehan
11. Rockin' Around the Xmas Tree - Bob Kulick, Bruce Kulick, Rudy Sarzo, Joe Lynn Turner, Simon Wright
12. Happy Xmas (War Is Over) - Kenny Aronoff, Steve Lukather, Marco Mendoza, Tommy Shaw
The line-up of names makes this worth buying without even a listen. Lemmy covering anything is a guaranteed success story and I'll happily buy anything with Alice Cooper's name on it. Choice track would, natch, be Lemmy's rendition of Run Rudolph Run. Give it a listen here and buy the album here.

Papa Ain't No Santa Claus, Mama Ain't No Christmas Tree
1. Hey Santa Claus - The Moonglows
2. Santa Claus Won't Come This Year - Charlie Stewart
3. Boogie Woogie Santa Claus - Mabel Scott
4. Santa's Secret - Johnny Guarnieri with Slam Stewart
5. Lonesome Christmas - Lowell Fulson
6. Christmas Boogie - Sugar "Chile" Robinson
7. Answer To Maple On The Hill - The Dixon Brothers
8. Mr Santa Boogie - The Marshall Brothers
9. Papa Ain't No Santa Clause, Mama Ain't No Christmas Tree - Butterbeans & Susie
10. Bells Of St Marys - Beverley King
11. Santa Claus Baby - The Voices
12. Santa's Helper - Joe Poovey
13. Baby Sittin' Santa - Barry Richards
14. Merry Christmas Baby - Charles Brown
15. Santa To The Moon - Sunny Cole
16. Rock 'N' Roll Santa - Little Joey Farr
17. Christmas & New Year Blues - Tampa Red
18. Jingle Bells Boogie - Jody Levins
19. I'll Be Home For Christmas - The Pilgrim Travellers
20. Happy New Year To You- The Qualities
...and now for something completely different. After all that killer metal, this album is a nice soothing Christmas Day choice. It's basically all the best midcentury boogie woogie and roots Christmas covers, and it's a definite case of all killer, no filler. There's quite a lot of creepy stuff on there, but I think that always helps. Try Santa's Secret by Johnny Guarnieri first then buy the album here.
