Savlon, the general antiseptic cream, is the easiest-peasiest, cheapest, most effective thing I've ever used on spots. To the uninitiated, it's most commonly used on cuts and grazes, but I assure you that it 100% does the job on zits. I usually apply it before bed when I feel a hint of spot and wake up to nada. It doesn't make your pillowcases go yellow either. It's aces! You can also, obviously, use it on spots that have come to fruition, although it's slightly less effective when used this way. It will significantly reduce redness and that ~angry~ look of a fresh spot. The only negative is that you have to go to bed with white paste on your face. Still, worth it for the results. My good pal Gemma Cartwright says that the Dettol Cream is as good at Savlon, but I have no personal experience...
